追風箏的孩子，
一部悲傷遠大於歡喜的小說。
阿富汗對我來說很陌生，以我粗淺的地理知識，我頂多知道它是個鄰接中國的貧瘠國家，首都的名字也許有聽過，不過地圖上我指不出位置來。如果不是因為911，我可能還沒聽過塔利班政權，不了解回教的派系，更不清楚這個國家動盪不安的原因。
故事背景橫跨1970-2000年間的阿富汗，主角是兩個從小一起長大的男孩，隨著國家乖舛的政局起伏而譜出的一段悲劇故事。
風箏是這段故事的開始，
故事最終也在飛揚的風箏中結束。
書的前半段描寫宇內承平時的阿富汗，以及主角阿米爾的成長過程，
藉著對於親情與友情的渴望，
描繪主角藏在心裡自私脆弱的一面。
後半段的故事中，因戰亂逃離阿富汗的主角，
為了父親的故友，以及對摯友造成的傷害，
最終重新踏上了飽受戰火蹂躪的祖國，
彌補自己情感上的虧欠。
作者在人物描寫上所下的功夫，
是我覺得劇情部份最有趣的地方。
主角與僕人哈山、主角父親之間的互動，
像極了佛洛伊德在心理分析裡面本我、自我、超我之間的關係，
也讓整個故事在許多氣氛平和的場合裡，多了幾分深一層的焦慮。
整個故事讓我比較不滿意的地方，
大概是後半段的劇情有點過度戲劇化了，
讓故事收尾得有點不真實，
不過還好這對故事的架構沒有造成太大的傷害。
書的作者是一位阿富汗外交官的兒子，
與其說這本書是一部小說，
它更像一扇面向阿富汗的窗，
透過這扇窗，讓世界各地的讀者認識這個國家，
認識境內的城市，也認識阿富汗人，了解他們的生活。
這有點像紐約人透過王建民，認識台灣，甚至台南一般。
小說很巧妙的讓這些訊息和故事情節結合在一起，
這本書的暢銷，應該算阿富汗人成功的形象推銷吧!
